Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is seeking skilled and experienced professionals to fill the roles of JGM/DGM, DM, and AM across various disciplines on a contractual or deputation basis. The official CMRL Recruitment 2024 notification indicates 07 vacancies for these designated positions.

Required Qualification and Experience

According to the CMRL Recruitment 2024 notification, applicants should possess the below qualifications.

a) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (Underground – Design)

Educational Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech (Civil) graduate from an AICTE / UGC-recognized university/institute.
• Possession of an M.E. / M.Tech degree (Civil / Structural Engineering) is preferable.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 15 years post-qualification experience for JGM and 13 years for DGM.
• Experience in planning and design of viaducts, bridges, and multi-story buildings.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in metro railway projects with the design of viaducts, tunnels, and underground stations.
• Hands-on knowledge of various computer applications and design software is preferred.
• Familiarity with standard Indian and Euro codes and practices for buildings, bridges, tunnels, and underground stations.

b) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (Elevated – Design)

Educational Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech (Civil) graduate from a government-recognized university/institute, approved by AICTE/UGC.
• Possession of an M.E. / M.Tech degree (Civil / Structural Engineering) is preferable.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience for JGM and 13 years for DGM in planning and designing Viaducts, Bridges, and Multistorey Buildings.
• Out of the 15 / 13 years of experience, at least 8 years of experience in Metro Railway projects with the Design of Viaducts and Elevated Stations is essential.
• Hands-on knowledge of various computer applications related to the job and being well-versed in different design software is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Standard Indian & Euro Codes and Practices followed in India for Buildings, Bridges, and Elevated Stations.

c) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (PIMS)

Educational Qualifications

• B.E / B. Tech (Civil) from a government-recognized institute/university approved by AICTE/UGC.
• Postgraduate degree in a relevant field is desirable.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of post-qualification executive experience at the Joint General Manager level.
• Minimum 13 years of post-qualification experience for Deputy General Manager level.
• At least 7 years of experience in ERP, SAP, and other project management software.
• Experience in managing teams of software developers, technical teams, general contractors (GC), and Designated Development Consultants (DDC) across all disciplines.
• Ability to manage team meetings and provide periodic updates on physical and financial progress in designated portals.
• Familiarity with software tools such as MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and CAD.

d) Deputy General Manager (Electrical & Mechanical)

Educational Qualifications

• Must hold a B.E / B. Tech degree in ECE, EEE, or Mechanical from a recognized institute/university approved by AICTE/UGC.

Experience Requirements

• Must be in JAG grade in Group (A) with at least 6 years of experience.
• Alternatively, you must be in Group B with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Required experience in MEP/E&M, including –
  • HT/LT Electrical Power Supply Systems
  • UPS Systems
  • Earthing Systems
  • Lightning Arrestor
  • Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
  • Fire Protection Systems
  • Plumbing Systems
  • BMS/SCADA Systems
• Involvement in BIM/design review, development, interface management, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Relevant experience in Railway projects, Metro Rail projects, or large infrastructure projects.

e) Deputy Manager (Transport Planning)

Educational Qualifications

• Possess an M.E. or M.Tech degree in one of the following fields from a recognized institute or university approved by AICTE/UGC –
  • Transportation Planning
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Traffic Engineering
  • Urban Engineering

Experience Requirements

• Have a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in –
  • Executing large transportation infrastructure projects
  • Involvement in city-level transportation studies such as –
    • Comprehensive Citywide Transportation Study (CCTS)
    • Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP)
    • Feasibility studies
    • Detailed Project Reports (DPR)

f) Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager (QA/QC)

Educational Qualifications

• BE/B. Tech in Civil Engineering From a government-recognized university/institute Approved by AICTE/UGC.
• Possession of additional certification or a diploma in Quality is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience for Deputy Manager (DM).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience for Assistant Manager (AM).
• Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
• Relevant sectors: Metro Rail, Large Infrastructure, Construction projects.

Selection Process

The CMRL Recruitment 2024 notification states that the selection methodology comprises of two-stage process –

• Stage 1: Interview
• Stage 2: Medical Examination

Medical Examination Details

• First-time medical examination costs are covered by CMRL.
• If a candidate requests an extension for joining, they must cover the costs of a second medical examination.
• Candidates are responsible for their travel expenses to and from the medical test.
• Candidates who fail the medical test will not be offered alternative employment.
• CMRL’s decision regarding medical examination results is final.

• Success in the selection process does not guarantee an appointment.
• CMRL will conduct inquiries to assess the candidate’s character and antecedents before finalizing an appointment.

Pay Scale & Consolidated Salary

The CMRL Recruitment 2024 notification indicates that the chosen candidate will receive a monthly remuneration ranging from Rs. 62,000 to Rs. 1,45,000.

The scale of pay for deputation post

The executives on deputation have the following options regarding their compensation –

Option A – Receive the current salary from the parent organization, along with a deputation allowance and a project allowance, each calculated at 10% of the Basic Pay.

Option B – Opt for the equivalent cadre IDA pay scale in CMRL, which includes IDA, HRA, and a Cafeteria Allowance amounting to 20% of the Basic Pay.
